Nora creates, combines, and plays objects, instruments, compositions, improvisations, noise, performance art and sound art. She works solo and with a variety of composers, musicians, actors, dancers, visual artists, writers, poets, philosophers, chefs, and anyone who challenges her.
Music is ‘playing’ for Mulder, in spite of her rigorous academic musical training and her ability to play complex works by contemporary composers. She is eager and generous, working on the interactive Abstractiepark7090 …. while she sticks to the grand piano for a CD with works by Xenakis. The jury report for the Willem Breuker Prize praises the pianist for her versatility, for all the different things she does. In an interview in Het Parool at the end of October, Mulder disagreed with the latter: ‘They all come out of the same brain.’ You could also say: They all come about while playing.
